ABOUT US
A Global Citizen: To have another language is to have a second soul! - Who am I?
Hello, and welcome to this special space where we embark on a journey together—a journey through life, cultures, and the endless possibilities that language and writing offer. You can call me Lola, a name endearingly given by my late mother. Who am I? Simply: Lola.
Who am I? A Global Citizen
I see myself as a citizen of the world. Of course, I have a country to which I am culturally attached and where my family roots are, but even so, I view myself as a citizen of the world.
I was born in one country, spent my early years and teens living in another, attended college in a third country, and then took my first job in a completely different nation. And now, I find myself in another new land, engaged in translation and journalistic editing.
The Power of Language: My Four Souls
My ability to speak four languages has made me feel even more strongly about this. You may already be aware of Charlemagne’s famous quote, “To have another language is to have a second soul.” I certainly feel this way. Being proficient in a language entails exploring its most nuanced meanings and extensively studying the culture of the language’s native speakers.
Additionally, if more than one nation speaks a certain language, you will undoubtedly need to learn about the cultures of those other nations as well as live and interact with the people of the country where you either study or work or whose language you are proficient in. Even if you only have one nationality, all of this makes you a multicultural individual, which will make you a global citizen.
Language is a love of mine and a fundamental aspect of who I am. I never intended to major in languages in college and work in the field afterwards, but destiny had other ideas. This helped shape my perspective on life and how I perceived other people. Actually, it helped me stop judging anyone. Instead, I do my best to comprehend his goals and motivations.
Writing: The Expression of My Soul
Writing is my love, and I believe it to be the best way to communicate words. It’s a fact that I adore writing. I write so that my eyes can sense who I am and read my feelings. My dream has always been to own my own publishing house, to be a writer, blogger, and publisher, and to help other young people and writers grow so that together we can create a great institution and let the pen do the talking. In the world of capitalism, I had to work very hard to support myself and my family by keeping up with the fast-paced lifestyle, rising costs, and changing circumstances. After that, my mother got sick and was later diagnosed with the feared cancer. At the same time, my relationships with other people were strained, which took up a lot of my time and energy.
It’s the turn of social media!
I didn’t have much time to consider how to begin or take the initial step toward pursuing my dreams. Suddenly, I had an idea and asked myself, “Why don’t I start writing and take advantage of technology in a free and hassle-free way so that my articles knock on people’s doors via their phones and computers and make them read and know about my ideas?” Although I don’t prefer to be a famous person, I do enjoy my ideas being well-known. I prefer to strongly influence people’s hearts and, by extension, the world, due to the principles, values, and morals I uphold. The winner in the end is what’s inside the heart.
